Lasagna is a famous dish from Italian cuisine. It is originated in Italy in the city of Naples. Lasagna or "Lasagne" is word derived from Greek word laganon which is the first known form of the pasta. Lasagna is a Pasta in the form of sheets or wide strips. It is fully baked with meat or vegetables and a cheese sauce.
Ingredients:
- 1 carrot, 1 celery tick, 1/2 onion (chopped)
- 700ml Tomato sauce
- 1 glass of red wine (150ml)
- Salt and Pepper
- 3 Types of cheeses
- Provolone cheese, Mozzarella cheese, Pecorino cheese
- 25gms Butter
- 25gms Plain Flour
- 25ml Milk and Little Nutmeg(optional)
- Lasagna Sheets
Method:
Vegetable Sauce:
- Heat a pot and pour a generous amount of Olive oil.
- Add Carrots, Celery and Onions when Oil has warmed up.
- Cook the vegetables for 5-10mins.
- Add Red wine. You do not add the wine after milk. Instead of wine, you can use Vegetable stocks or water.
- Add Tomato Sauce. Stir well and add salt and Pepper.
- Cook the sauce for 20-30mins. Our vegetable sauce is ready.
- Keep aside lets move on to the white sauce.
White Sauce
- Heat another pan and melt the butter in a low heat. Add Flour into the melted Butter and stir well.
- Add a little amount of Milk and stir in a medium heat. Now Add the remaining milk and stir well.
- The white sauce is done once it thickens up. Main point is, it cannot be too Thick.
- Turn off the stove and add some nutmeg(optional) and salt and mix well.
Assemble Lasagna:
- Take a Plate to assemble lasagna. Spread some oil or butter at the bottom of the Plate.
- Add vegetable sauce at the bottom. Then assemble pasta sheets on the plate.
- Make sure the pasta sheets covers a whole layer. Then add Vegetable sauce.
- Next layer is add 3types of cheese one by one.
- First add Provolone, then mozzarella and pecorino.
- Then add white sauce which we prepared. Repeat the layer like Pasta Sheet - Vegetable Sauce - Cheese and cover the layer on the top using pasta sheets.
- Add Some Tomato Sauce on the top. Do not add Cheese on the top. Cover the top of the dish with foil. Bake the lasagna for 20mins at 180 degree Celsius / 350 degree F.
- Now You can add the cheese after lasagna Baked. Now Bake the lasagna for another 10mins.
- Let the lasagna cool down before Serving.
